Soon after moving there Thomas’s father died but because he was rich he left the Fitzsimons a lot of money to help them with their education. Thomas was so smart and educated so he started working as a housing clerk. Working as a housing clerk he soon met Catherine Meade and they got married on November 23rd, 1761. Fitzsimons was on the side of the Federalist Party at that time, and the public didn't like the Federalist at all at that time. They blamed the Federalist for the suppression of the Whiskey Rebellion and as a result the people ended up blaming Thomas Fitzsimons. After 1795 Thomas Fitzsimons left the life of being in politics, but stayed active in his business and helped with his civics activities. Months later he would become The Chamber of Commerce’s president of Philadelphia state and became North’s America Bank Director. Thomas working as the Bank Director would help soon build Georgetown College. The picture below is showing Georgetown University.
On August 26th 1811, Thomas Fitzsimons passed away. Thomas Fitzsimons was 60 years old. He passed away in Philadelphia and was buried in Catholic Church of St. Mary, which is now the important part of the Independence National Historical Park to this day.
