Thomas Fall Video Analysis

Improved Essays
The focus of the video clip we chose is around kinematics and dynamics. The movie scene we chose to do is from Project X when Thomas jumps from the roof and lands on a bouncy house. The research we did in order to determine whether or not Thomas’ fall was survivable centered around finding numbers pertaining to Thomas’ weight, the average height of a two story house, and information about fatal falls. We picked this scene because we wanted to see how realistic the fall was.
To get the numbers we needed, we used Google to find numbers and physics websites to find the equations and data we needed. According to our sources, a person can survive a fall of at least 20,000 feet. Thomas’ fell 20 feet from his roof, or 6.096 meters. With this information,

From the video “Two Spirit People”, different people talk about being “two spirits”, their beliefs on it and sexual orientation. In the video, all speakers voices are according to their sex, but their physical appearance says something else. The first speaker is Benjamin, he has long hair, which he puts in pigtails and added pink hair accessories to it. He is wearing a gold long drop earring, a necklace, and lots of gold rings that look to be mostly for females. His face also seems as though he has applied make up and his eyebrows are neatly done.…

In the video by Doug Dietz, we see a problem most people overlook being seen and fixed because of one thing: empathy. Doug showed empathy to the family that came to get an MRI scan in the Scanner he designed, so he was able to feel the anxiety and stress faced by the parents and the children. They are the ones the hospital would use the machine on. Hence it is their satisfaction that is important to him. As a designer, I know that a designer feels the most satisfaction when their design serves its purpose in the best way it can and touches the lives of others in the process.…

While watching the institutional videos, I could not help but think about how the residents felt while living in such horrible institutions. Throughout the clips, there was a common theme within each that the residents of institutions were not treated the same as many other civilians. The residents were treated horrible along with the conditions of the institutions being horrendous and unbearable for them. It was clear that the employees did not care about the residents. The videos on Pennhurst, Willow brook, and the State Boys Rebellion opened my eyes to this dilemma that was presented in the past and possibly present.…

Many people have an idea about how war is like, however most of them base these ideas from movies that they see. Similarly, Richie Perry in Fallen Angels, by Walter Dean Myers, also has a fantasized view about war. However, his view completely changes when he partakes in the Vietnam war. Through the character of Perry, Walter Dean Myers reveals that being part of a war changes an individual’s outlook on war because it debunks many beliefs they had before. War is similar to what is shown on movies, or so what Perry has thought.…

The video itself does not have more meaning than a scrapbook for the project, but the song I chose relates to transcendentalism. It is called “I Like Birds” by Eels. Throughout the song they talk about how they like birds, similarly to how transcendentalists (Thoreau with the loons) admired nature and aspired to be near it. Another stanza,”I don 't care for walkin ' downtown--Crazy auto-car gonna mow me down--Look at all the people like cows in a herd-- Well, I like--Birds,” talks of resistance to conformity and anti-societal thoughts, both of which were found in…

I really enjoyed watching the video. The purpose of John Sinnett 's was that he wanted his students to see that he was engaged just as the students were. From the video, we can see that John is very passionate about his kindergarten students. During his lesson, he gets down on the carpet on the same level as his student to make them feel engaged. This is something that is very important because students are so to teachers telling what to do.…

In the video we see alot of people who were sterilized as punishment to whatever they had done and that is simply ridiculous. We had 8 year olds being sterilized because their teacher thought they were flirting with a boy. It is very cruel and unusual punishment yet the United States still allowed for it to happen. Even things such as cases where a girl gets raped and is sterilized because they say she was the one that put it upon herself. This is most definitely cruel and unusual punishment from the government.…

His stance as he is falling is calm and composed, as if he has accepted the inevitable and is peacefully falling. There is very little distraction in the image from what is evident, causing you to not be able to stray away from the horrific event frozen in time, apart from feel the emotion the photographer intended. In the film from the article called ‘The Story Behind the Haunting 9/11 Photo of a Man falling from the Twin Towers’ written by Times Magazine, Drew says ‘Journalists don’t run away from the falling building we don’t run away from fire we run to it, because it’s our job to record history’. I think this quote perfectly sums up what documentary photography has always been about through history, the documenting and sharing of historical events that we can forever look upon and remember, despite the fact that it can cause increased controversy from every photo and…

The movie I have chosen for a film analysis is called, San Andreas which relates to an environmental disaster that is unpredictable and results in a serious effect on the environment (Warner Bros. Pictures, 2015). The San Andreas shows one fascinating aspect of American disaster film that presents two apocalyptic, an earthquake and a tsunami by addressing the most-commonly portrayed environmental disaster. Along with showing the powerful natural disaster, this film concentrates on informing catastrophe and post-apocalyptic disaster. To begin with, the San Andreas is set in the city of Los Angeles, with San Francisco Bay Area and follows the story of San Andreas fault.
