Thomas Edison is another man who has overcome physical difficulties in his lifetime. He was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio, and had six siblings. At a young age, Tom suffered from Scarlet Fever, and had frequent ear infections that left him with bad hearing. In 1854, the Edisons moved to Port Huron in Michigan. Tom attended a school there for about three months. Tom being hyperactive resulted in his teacher saying he was difficult. He was then home schooled by his mother who was a teacher. As he got older, he showed a thirst for knowledge that was displayed by his love of reading. He went searching for a job at age twelve.
