Thomas Edison struggled in his early life. Edison lost his hearing at a very young age, due to the scarlet fever. He was not in public school only for 3 months because of his hearing loss. He missed out on a lot of things because he got deadly sick. His later life was much better than his childhood, he became an inventor and a businessman. He was one of the greatest businessman of America.
Thomas Edison was born on February 11th, 1847 in Milan Ohio. child of Nancy Matthews Elliott, and Samuel Ogden Edison. He had 6 siblings, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Edison was one of the youngest out of the bunch. He wasn't the smartest out of the bunch either, he lost his hearing due to the scarlet fever. His hearing got so bad he became deaf so he had to be taken out of public school and be home schooled by his mom. While he was a child he had a job selling news papers, candy, and fruit to make money. His family did not really have a lot when he was young. His favorite invention was the phonograph(it was published in 1877), it was also the first one that he created. It played music because he planned on making a movie. His second invention was the light bulb he(published it in 1879), it definitely changed everyone’s life and his. Edison invented it for a way of making things easier too see.
