Thomas Edison Research Paper

Thomas Alva Edison (nicknamed Al) was born on February 11, 1847, in Milan, Ohio. He began experimenting at an early age. Canals were the roads in the 19th century. When Thomas was 7 his family moved to Port Huron, Michigan for a better future. He didn’t attend public school for very long. Edison, the youngest child in the family, was rather sick and had a great concern for his mother, who had already lost two children in infancy and a third before Edison’s first birthday. Edison loved to read and especially interested in Science. Edison got a job selling newspapers on a train. Edison realized that his hearing was going down as he got older. Inventions at Menlo Park phonograph, improved telephone transmitter, the electric pen, light bulb. Edison worked so hard sometimes he would work for 16 hours without sleeping. The laboratory had 2500 bottles of chemicals lining the walls. Edison worked with Charles Batchelor came up with something that changed transmission of a persons voice across the wires. The light bulb was Edisons most popular invention to come out of Menlo Park. Edison was the most famous inventor of his time. Thomas was a gvood friend of Henry Ford a very famous inventor too. Edison and Francis Jehl were the ones that did the crucial experiments that came up with light bulb. Edison was asked to be part of the Naval board. Edison received a Congressional gold medal in 1928. In 1886 Edison decided to build a home in Fort Myers, Florida. In a search reminiscent of his hunt for the light bulb filament he tested thousands of plants. He found that goldenrod had the most potential for a rubber producer. But he was 80 years old and in poor health so he never got to finish his last experiment. Troubled by diabetes and stomach ailments for many years, Edison’s health declined and he died at West Orange,
