Have you ever been stuck in a power outage for many hours, and had to use a candle or no light at all? It is tough, right? People lived this way until 1879, when Thomas Edison created the lightbulb to bring everyone out of the darkness. Thomas Edison grew up in the state of Ohio, where he became an inventor. He invented the lightbulb by taking carbon filament and coiled strip and connecting it to platina contact wires. Along with his many other inventions, the light bulb helped society to develop and thrive. Because of the light bulb, people could work way later into the day, which is how more discoveries were found. Thomas Edison was perseverant, passionate, and open-minded, which allowed him to be an influential leader in world history.
