What Klein suggest is a noble idea. My thoughts on this is that I don’t think nobody would argue with Klein that we are harming the environment, and that we should do something about it. However, what Klein suggests is harder to put into practice at a global level, even though it has worked at a more local and regional level. The reason being …show more content…
126). I tend to agree with this because this is the most realistic approach to this situation. Yes, the idea of reducing climate change sounds very appealing. But at what costs? We would have to reduce our production levels to reduce emissions, and that would harm the economy at a global level. Klein then tries to address the problem of unemployment that would come with these environmental-friendly seeking solutions, “On the other hand, when workers in dirty sectors are offered good jobs in clean sectors (like the former automakers at the Silfab factory in Toronto), and are enlisted in active participants in a green transition, then progress can happen at lightning speed” (Klein, pg. 126). Silfab, for example, is a solar energy equipment supplier, and if everyone started using it, climate change would decrease. The problem; however, is that solar power is expensive, and not very practical, because the amount of solar energy falling on one square meter of ground is relatively small. Consequently, it is not very practical due to the fact that it
