This American Life With Great Power Analysis

"With great power comes great responsibility." Probably one of the most notorious line in the blockbuster movie, Spider-Man. In This American Life, "Episode 318: With Great Power" Ira Glass tells the story of his two friends who had this incredible power to change the life of people. The power to save someone from pain and suffering. Ira tells these stories through the different perspectives of Alex Kotlowitz and Shalom Auslander. In the beginning of this interview the story centered around criminal justice, heroism and murder, the exposure was a eerie and dramatic tone that created this mysterious setting which was perfect for a murder case. Alex Kotlowitz tells the story of how she saved this girl from the brutal mistreatment of her father, who is a possible suspect for murder. Just like Ira, Sarah conducted her interviews through the lens of these people. However, the exposures was different, the setting that was created with "Stories We Tell" had a comical element, yet "With Great Power" there was a more serious and dramatic setting. All these interviewees used segments of their memory of Diane to unravel a tale of her accomplishments and personality. They all respected Diane, and just like Ira he respects his interviewees because they are trying to reach out to people in Chicago's prison in an effort to save their lives from further corruption.
