Thirteen Reasons Why Book Report

Decent Essays
College 101 is a course all freshmen are required to take, it provided me with a book I enjoyed reading, a scavenger hunt that was helpful, and a trip to seely hall for a lecture on the library. The book Thirteen Reasons why by Jay Asher was a good read. It made me realize how bullying, can accfect people’s lives up to the point of suicide. I think this book is a way to inform students that picking on people can cause them to give up on life, destroy their self-esteem and cause untold grief. Bulling may seem cool but not if you’re the one being bullied. The scavenger hunt was a way to help me identify certain buildings. It also gave me a chance to talk to my peer’s one on one, as we were walking to the buildings. I got to talk to people

Being a 16-year –old, and having taken my first semester of college classes this semester with my high school classes on top of that, all here at CSN, has been an unforgettable experience. On the other hand, from the three college classes I have enrolled in, including German 111, Communications 101, and Anthropology 101, I have, in my opinion, learned the most with my Anthropology 101 class. This class has been a great and interesting experience that has allowed me to view the world in a different way than most people. To illustrate, even though I thought most of the things we discussed in class like linguistics and archaeology were interesting, I consider learning about ethnology the most memorable and fascinating concept for me. To illustrate,…

The author, Dave Cullen, was inspired to write this book by the massacre that occurred on April 20th, 1999 in Columbine High School. The events that took place before and after the massacre gave the shooting a whole new different meaning and feel to the community. Cullen was able to capture so many visuals and explanations about people’s stories and the investigation of the shooters along with their reasoning. This book was very well written in the sense that it made the reader understand why this was so much more than just a school shooting.…

Unlike the literature I am required to read during the school year, the books that I read for pleasure are more focused on issues that can relate to one's actual life. The books I read for pleasure are more of a release. For example, I read "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel to get a better view on the idea of intangible belief and dry factuality. I enjoyed "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury because it provided a new perspective on the idea of censorship. I also read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Of Mice and Men" in order to receive valuable insight on the idea of loss of innocence.…

My favorite line in the book “The Things They Carried” was located in the final story “The Lives of the Dead”. “I’m young and happy. I’ll never die. This term I started out with what I thought was a pretty easy reading goal. My goal was to read at least two hours every week, not counting the time we read at the beginning of English. I read many articles, mostly things from Buzzfeed, and The Onion. I also started rereading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I was in school, outside of school I just finished reading A Separate Peace by John Knowles. Overall I don’t think I met my goal, because some weeks I wouldn’t read at all and other weeks I had read for probably fifteen hours or more, and I never had a very consistent reading schedule.…

Books are a principle staple mark in a child's social and academic development. They furnish the foundation for an adolescent's inspiration and curiosity to be constructed. In America's modern day curriculum though, countless immature students are being forced to read a series of novels that promote profane and violent content, one being the popularized Fahrenheit 451. Positioned in the 24th century, Fahrenheit 451 apprises the reader about the principal protagonist, Guy Montag. Early within the novel, Montag gains gratification in his profession as a fireman, burning illegally possessed books and homes of their owners.…
