Thirteen Days focuses on the American government for most of the film and not on the actual crisis. For example most of the film was the American government trying to figure out how they can stop Soviet Union from bringing more missiles in Cuba and also how to get Soviet Union to take them out without starting World War 3. Thirteen Days is not historically accurate. For example Kenneth O’Donnell who is shown as the main character for the whole film didn’t in actuality have a lot to do with the Cuban Missile Crisis.
