Common cold is my third diagnostic consideration based on the patient’s clinical presentation and subjective data that was obtained. The patient is 70 years old, recent exposure with his granddaughter who had an upper respiratory infection. The patient developed cold previous week, has nasal congestion, and admit to cough. Physical exam elicits small amount of yellow drainage. These consternations of symptoms point to common cold. The disease is usually self-limiting, but can predispose a patient to bacterial infections such as pneumonia, sinusitis, and otitis media
