I would read another book by Maya Gold because I really enjoy this book. My favorite genres to read is fantasy and adventure. So when I have a book that has both of my favorite genres, I will obviously like to read more about it. Mask Appeal is a fantasy like Cinderella. The novel Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews is a fabulously relatable novel that I earnestly enjoyed reading. This book is entertaining, humorous, and has a unique plot. I rate this book 4.5/5 stars. Although most of the book was extremely engrossing, there were some parts in the novel that were very slow-paced and boring. For example, there are many sections of the novel that focus on backflashes to previous events in Greg’s life.…

The book I chose to read was “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman. This book has many elements of adventure, romance, and just a touch of comedy in it, but can be classified as a fantasy romance novel. Two countries are on the edge of war when Princess Buttercup is kidnapped by a group of three men. Vizzini, the leader of the entourage, is very clever and was ordered to kill Princess Buttercup. The other two members are Fezzik, a sympathetic giant who doesn’t want to be left alone, and Indigo, a revenge filled swordsman.…

Since the last time I wrote a journal, I have finished reading Richelle Mead’s Shadow Kiss. This story is about the main character, Rose, and how she has to research deeper into her mind to figure out why she feels all sorts of emotions, what her fate is, and why the Queen’s nephew, Adrian, keeps telling her she has a ‘dark aura’ around her. Rose, in addition, has to make sure her best friend, Lissa, is okay through their magical bond, which allows Rose to see what Lissa can see. This is a dystopian story, about vampires and their guardians. The second half of this book is about how Rose comes to a conclusion about her fate.…

In the short stories “Straw into Gold” by Sandra Cisneros and the autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X, the theme of overming the battles of life is prevalent through the use of pathos. Using emotion and sentiments to bring the readers the feeling of being at the same situation as they were. The main target of these two short stories were young people who have ever felt by their own in a conflict situation. Sandra cisneros could encourage the readers sharing her surpise of having done everything she did: “ I’ve done all kinds of things I didn’t think I could do since then” (Cisneros 99). She felt emotional at the moment she realized that even being a latin girl, and having all the obstacles she had passed through, she…
