Scientist and engineers are going to keep bringing forth these advances to push the limits of what can be achieved; in order to benefit from these advances we need to show we will accept inventions so long as they have a practical and helpful use for society. Shteyngart talked about the Darpa challenge which was a challenge to create a remote controlled device to be able to react to disaster scenarios where humans couldn’t go due to the dangers. The author talks about the design of Hubo the Robot and how was created to function and compete in the Darpa challenge. The concept of having a machine be able to safely shut down a disaster, such as a power plant melting down, will help us minimize damage caused. Controversy has arose by the scientist on just how smart to make these robots; Oh Jun-ho of KAIST proposes the idea of proportioning a balance of the robot's intelligence and strength. Due to the inevitable age of this new technology, society need to accept the technology, but enforce the demand for practical and balanced …show more content…
Ideas generated from no only South Korea but other parts the the world will inevitably trickle over and combine together despite the barriers that have been set before them. Along side of the ideas will come the practical uses that will be helpful and convenient to the average household. From the current applications of smart toilets to reduce water waste or even paper waste, or to sending a robot in the initiate a shutdown sequence of nuclear power plant after an error has occurred. Some people and societies as a whole will object the idea and use of such technology due to fears that come along them, but remaining blind to the time and possibly life saving benefits that come alongside of them. As a whole, we need to accept practical advances with ease and incorporate them in our lives, but stand together to prevent people creating AI to powerful for their own
