" Think of laughter as the unofficial language of Earth" Marc Nobleman said (in the text Made You Laugh. This is could be an example of way authors like to use various forms of humor in text. When the author uses humor, he/she uses it to communicate a universal truth. Authors may use different types of comedy to get across a point like low comedy and high comedy. Different types of comedy can give the reader a different insight on the topic.
Furthermore, on types of comedy, low comedy is known to entertain. When an author uses low comedy, they joke around more and might use element like puns, or one-liners. An example of an author using low comedy is in " Brothers "by Jon Scieska. Jon says things like " He got on look and whiff of the pecan nut cat yack and blew his own sticky lunch all over the cat. High comedy purpose is to bring across a message or opinion, although they do sneak in a little humor. An example of an author using high comedy is in "I've got a few pet peeves about sea creatures" by Dave Barry. Barry says things like "This is when I discovered how complex the fish society is. I'd point to some colorful fish and say" what about these"? And the aquarium guy would say " Those are great fish but they do get aggressive when they mate."… This was a reoccurring theme. I'd point to some fish, and the aquarium guy would inform me that these fish could become aggressive if ... it was a month containing the letter " R", or they heard the song " Who let the dogs out". Dave Barry starts by saying facts true to some fish but then gets into humor when he exaggerates on what's makes them aggressive. We know fish can't understand songs and months but he lets us have a little laugh by making his point that picking out a fish is harder than you think. Eventually this contributes to the theme that a parent will go through hard times to make their kids
