We have separated ourselves in so many ways that it 's hard to unite as one when we need too.But when the government tried to help with race after the Civil War, they made laws that were lowkey racist. For example The Jim Crow Laws forced segregation between Black and White people. It stated “separate but equal” but you can still tell how inferior African Americans were during this time, nothing was equal Black people lived in poverty because of these laws and couldn’t leave so easily from this. I will never forget this because we are the land of the “free” while we treat people like crap.And till this day we still do but for more types of groups.This is important because it ties with the Civil Rights movement with MLK and X without segregation we wouldn 't have this famous movement.These laws paved the way for great people fight for the …show more content…

In my opinion being an individual is the most important thing if you want to be someone in life.An example that shows individualsim was during the Gilded age when businesses fought to be the better one.The Gilded age was a time in US history that the economy was growing rapidaly and it was “survival of the fitest” for many big busineses that we see till this day.Many people turned rich because of their own ideas for the business.While the community thinking you can see it in the early years of the US even before independence .I’m talking about The Protestant faith they mostly believed that the community should be number one and if you didnt think so they though the devil was in you.I will always have this in my mind because itts weird how devided people are with this beliefs and how it can divide people for their own good. This is a reason why to teach students about this class so they can see how america has been going back and forth with this
