One human right the people of Nigeria violated was the right to recognition as a person before the law. In the book Things Fall Apart it shows how the people of Nigeria did not consider giving certain types of people such as the “Outcasts” trials or hearing before being exiled or sacrificed. “Nneka had had four previous pregnancies and child-births But each time she had borne twins and they had been immediately thrown away.” The twins were sent to the evil forest because they were considered “evil” in the culture of Umuofia and the parents were not allowed to have a trial to keep them inside the tribe. …show more content…
In Things Fall Apart it is shown that certain types of people are not allowed to participate in the igbo culture. “An osu could not attend an assembly of the freeborn and they in turn could not shelter under his roof He could not take any of the four titles of the clan and when he died he was buried by his kind in the Evil Forest.” Osu’s couldn’t participate in the igbo culture and they were forced to live in the evil forest.
