People and conflict come as one. There is always the knowledge that when there is a person, conflict is inevitable. However, conflict can only cause bad outcomes if an individual reacts to the problem in the wrong way. Not many people realize this, they think that any conflict is a bad one. That is far from the truth. A conflict is defined as a serious disagreement, that means there will always be a way to compromise and settle the dispute. Therefore, a person must first be willing to work and change for a dispute, conflict, or problem before it can be resolved. Not everyone reacts the same way whenever a conflict uprises. Some people act in an irrational sense and actually cause the problem to deepen. A suitable example for this would be Okonkwo in the …show more content…
A amazing example of this kind of person would be Martin Luther King Jr. He worked against society to help solve the problem of racism. Mr. King didn’t try and solve the problem with violent protests or by starting a war, he worked in a peaceful way to solve a violent problem. He organized and carried out rallies, sit ins, and peaceful protests. By trying to help and solve this problem in such manner Martin Luther King Jr. helped dig society out of a conflict that had previously only been worsened. Okonkwo the main character in the book Things Fall Apart is also an example of how to resolve a conflict. Okonkwo was brought up by a man who was looked down upon in his village for being lazy and having no title. So when his father died, he did not get land and yam seeds like the other men did to start their own compound and farm. Okonkwo worked hard and tackled labor without one complaint, all because he wanted to become someone and have success and a title. Not only did Okonkwo overcome his conflict, he accomplished even more. He has a title, many wives, grows the most yams, and sits among the
