My mom always asked me, “If your friends jump off a cliff, would you jump too?” Evidently, I would. As I was falling off the End of the World, I realized what a stupid idea it was. No, not the actual end of the world, but a cliff that lives up to its name. I plunged into the ocean, salt water rushed into my nose, and I struggled to catch my breath. While clinging onto a rock for dear life, I had another realization; my mother would never let me do this. In the early years of my childhood I lived with my dad in Hawaii and we always got into trouble together. However, we both needed somebody to keep our mischievous adventures at bay, and that person was my mom. If it weren’t for my dad’s lively personality, and my mom’s instincts to protect me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. …show more content…
When I was 6, we played hide and seek with my aunt, and we got lost in the woods. When I was 8, we went to the beach and he got stung by a jellyfish. When I was 11, my dad climbed a coconut tree and accidently dropped a coconut on our picnic table. But I was 14 when I visited my dad and we jumped off a cliff. To be fair, this was my idea. Surprisingly, the worst part was not falling, or choking on salt water, or even the unbelievable pain as a smacked against the water, but the walk back. I was barefoot walking on rocks back up the cliff when got a splinter underneath my foot, then slipped and scraped my leg on a spiky plant. I decided that cliff diving was not my forte, but I had no regrets. I never do, when it comes to hanging out with my dad.
