An officer apprehended a wanted suspect last night in downtown Thibodaux, following a near-deadly situation.

“I remember his eyes. “ Officer Carlos Vacante said. “They were cold, the eyes of a killer.”

Last night at 11 p.m. Officer Vacante received the description of the suspect after the police believed the man stole from parked cars. Officer Vacante spotted him and called to the suspect.

Thibodaux’s Ministerial Alliance held a conference against the death penalty this morning.

The Ministerial Alliance’s spokesman Rev. Stuart Alder declared that while, not soft on crime they do not believe that the death penalty is just punishment for violent crimes. They said that several independent studies show that the death penalty does not deter crimes, but rather breeds more violence

Rev. Stuart Alder stated that they have studies that show average American children see 200,000 acts of violence by the age of sixteen. Ministerial Alliance thinks that America sold the people the bill of goods causing them to believe that the death penalty can deter crime. “If we’re really serious about stopping crime and violence, we have to recognize and correct its root causes: poverty, racial and sexual discrimination, broken homes, and unloved children.” Reverend Alder said. ”Also drugs and alcohol. That’s what’s responsible for most crimes. And television.”

Reverend Alder said the Ministerial Alliance also finds sentencing

After the officer killed Castile, the driver live-streamed the aftermath scene on her Facebook account and states that the officer assumed Castile was pulling out a gun instead of his wallet and shot him four times in the process. Stephen Nathanson, who wrote “An eye for an eye?” suggests the factual and moral beliefs about the death penalty are wrong and need to be strictly abolished. The passage states, “ A person’s actions, it seems, provide not only a basis for a moral appraisal of the person but also a guide to how he should be treated”. Also stated, “ What people deserve as recipients of rewards or punishments is determined by what they do as agents”. The argument claiming people should get a punishment based on what they do is accurate. What is not accurate however, is suggesting if someone murders another person, they should receive capital punishment.…
