When the authors’ of They Say, I Say wrote about their student who did not re-read what he had previously written, I felt that the student must have been more focused on completing the essay than on the clarity of his paper. I always proofread my paper for sentences or ideas that do not make sense and will often delete or re-write sections to improve the flow or clarity of my essay. I don’t think that I have ever had an essay where I didn’t re-write portions of it.
