Identify specific topic: Is capital punishment constitutional?
List reasons why it's important: This topic is important because it can be argued as a method that is going against the constitution.
Identify "general" aspects of the topic: The death penalty can be seen as a reassuring, well-deserved and comforting method of punishment for the heinous crimes committed by the convicted. But it is also seen as going against the constitution. H art, a retributive theory of punishment contains three elements: 1) a person may be punished if and only if he has voluntarily done something wrong; 2) the punishment must match, or be equivalent to, the wickedness of the offense; and 3) the justification for punishing persons is that the return of suffering for suffering for moral evil voluntarily done is itself just or morally good"(Radelet 7).
Explain why is this true: According to Merriam-Webster, "Retribution is defined as; something given or exacted in recompense; especially: punishment." This means that the idea of retribution is not to fill the whole of the offender's family but the victim's family.
3rd. "There is only one argument in favor of capital punishment it instills fear into the hearts of would be murderers and thus, prevents crime"(Crowe 228). Therefore, lowers the crime rate and eases the tension of the common peoples' heart, consequently improving producing productivity and government revenue. 2.Explain why is this true but... It is partially correct that the death penalty was expensive but research has shown that an execution was expensive during the 1920-1950's due to the form of execution such as cyanide gas was, gas chamber, and electrocution. Nowadays the methods are much more simple and inexpensive. Your synthesizing statement/Conclusion:
