(Background Info) In the small town of Ashland, Wisconsin, Jamie Nabozny was oppressed and harassed through his middle and high school years because of his sexual orientation. Not only was he bullied, but the harassment also developed to the point where Nabozny had to be hospitalized for five days. Nabozny took a stand against abuse by persevering and being courageous enough to file a lawsuit against those who wronged him.Though most would have given up and done nothing about it, he was able to fight against the heinous abuse and harassment, and he ended up being successful and content with his life. He now motivates others to handle the unfortunate circumstances in the ways he did. (Restate Thesis Statement) The Bullied documentary shares Nabozny’s story and highlights the importance of standing up against injustice. (Strategy: Call to Action) Jamie Nabozny proves that despite the fact that someone is tormented throughout their childhood lives, they can still be successful and lead a buoyant life. If he had not stood up to the injustice he was facing, then Nabozny would never have impacted and changed the lives of many others. Nabozny’s story has inspired many in his situation to take a stand and not give into the harassment.
