I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban, is a nonfiction narrative written by Malala Yousafzai and co-written by Christina Lamb. I am Malala was originally published on October 8, 2013. This outstanding book had the privilege to undergo worldwide recognition and receive the Goodreads Choice Awards, for best memoir & autobiography. I am Malala, is an inspiring narrative and a great read. I am Malala shares the life of a young Pakistan teenager who endured a near death experience and survived, it exhibits a handful of historical and cultural facts documenting the political affiliations in Pakistan but above all advocates the need for women’s education.

“We felt like the Taliban saw us as little dolls to control, telling us what to do and how to dress” (Yousafzai 124). When it appears there will be laws prohibiting girls from going to school, Malala becomes very vocal on the subject. She is interviewed by dozens of media outlets. She says that it’s vital for women to have an education. The whole book is focused on the changes that occurred as the Taliban’s entered the Swat Valley as well as, highlighting the immense effort that Malala upheld while revolting and courageously promoting the need for women’s education while remaining peaceful. “I Am Malala will make you believe in the power of one person 's voice to inspire change in the world” (Little Brown). I am Malala is a great read because it proves that one girl can literally change the world. Malala announced, “If one man can destroy everything, why can 't one girl change it?” (Yousafzai) and so she did, she fought passionately despite her circumstance and did not allow anyone to stop her. In addition, Malala used various persuasive appeals such as her most powerful philosophy “I raise up my voice not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard” (Yousafzai).
