Imagine this scenario. A boss at a big company has to hire a new employee. There are two different resumes in front of them. The first one is for a young girl named Michelle and the other is for an older gentleman named Michael. That boss will do his best to pick the most experienced but bias will most likely come into play. If he has a bias against older people he will pick Michelle or if he has a bias against women he will chose Michael. There are many different types of bias. The Institute for Women’s Policy Research center has found that female workers make 80 cents for every one dollar a male worker makes. This is a gender wage gap of twenty percent. This is an outrageous statistic that helps prove of the bias against women in the workplace . Most conservatives are perceived by liberals as bigoted, gun toting idiots who are stuck in the past while liberals are seen as pot smoking, go with the flow, philosophy majors who are trying to change everything that “made America great.” Both of these views are stereotypical and ignorant on both sides. The media does not help with this bias and if anything eggs this behavior on. It is almost impossible to find an independent media outlet that has no political bias for one side or the other because these are people writing these articles and not robots. People despite how hard they try, will be a little bias for what they believe in. Take a look at this excerpt from a Huffington Post article by Jon Hotchkiss called “Facts are Not A Liberal Bias,” “You see, in order for there to be bias, conservative commentators and Republican politicians have to assume there is in fact a correct answer to the questions they pose, a correct way to implement the policies they support... and that members of the liberal media misreport the facts or under report the facts and then replace them with information that supports their way of
