Thesis: Gun control should not be allowed because, it is proven that it does not work, the framers of the Constitution could not envision a truly free state with gun control in place, and guns are essential to the safety of all citizens.
Gun control does not work.
In fact, it is quite the opposite, in a 1997 study done by economist John Lott shows that the increase in concealed carry throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s resulted in lower crime rates across the United States.

Guns are essential to the safety of all citizens. A study conducted in 1993 shows that guns are used for self-defense at least 2.5 million times per year.
Most gun owners feel that they need firearms for self-protection, and an estimated 80 million Americans keep one or more guns in their home. So if that many Americans feel the need to have a gun, why is the government trying to take firearms away.
Instead of taking all firearms away the government should focus on creating groups like “Everytown for gun safety” who are working on raising awareness through programs that will educate residents about the dangers of having guns in their home with children that are not educated on how to handle firearms. They also give out free gun locks.
Many people say argue that anyone can get a handgun regardless of their mental stability and skill on operating the firearm. This, is in fact, a lie almost every state has specific requirements that must be met before a concealed weapons permit can be issued. These requirements may include classroom instruction, field demonstrations of actual firearms by the gun owner, testing, background checks, and at least a three-day waiting period before you can receive the
