Thermal Heat Injury

The inflammation process occurs as a reaction to the cells resulting from injury. The mediators of the tissue injury resulted in capillary dilation, which increased blood flow and permeability resulting in leaking of fluid. The site of injury increased leukocytes that resulted in white cells to migrate to the affected areas, thus producing a systemic response of fever (Effects of burn injury, 2010). The thermal injury was localized to the skin and systemic response to the area, resulting in a systemic response of a fever, which occurred days after the burn (Cakir, & YEĞEN, 2004).
The burn resulted in an acute inflammation process. The features described redness and blisters classifying the burn as second degree as a result from thermal heat. The reaction to the inflammation affects the vascular and cellular components of the skin. The vascular response causes vasodilatation resulting in the third spacing of fluid and at the cellular level neutrophils and monocytes migrated to the site of inflammation (Tiwari, 2012).

Medication such as silver sulfadiazine, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial can be used to treat the burn along with products such as hydrofiber and foam dressings can be used to absorb the exudate and keep the wound clean (Swezy, 2010).
