Among my options: interpreter, translator, soldier, freelance artist, or musician. Each career has pros and cons; some more than others. Enlisting in the military would take me far away from my home, but it would give me valuable experience that I would not receive otherwise. As a soldier it would prove crucial to develop a sense of discipline and loyalty as well as leadership skills of some sort. Finding work as a translator or interpreter would not come as much of a challenge as some of the other professions, but it holds the high likelihood of taking me away from my home as well. Becoming a freelance artist would not take me away from my home, but the unstable pay and lack of guarantees make it an unwise decision. The art produced for sale may not fetch high prices, but an artist has more connections and side-job offers that can arise. Becoming a musician, similar to becoming a freelance artist, would have many uncertainties. The decision I will make in the future depends entirely on the materials available to me and whether or not I choose to reach for them. I trust that my decision of career and major can work together to put me in a good starting position, like an art major and a job working for the military or as a freelance artist, linguistics major and a job working as an interpreter, etc. But no matter what major I choose, I have the rest of my life to study, work, and get the degree that works best for
