Parents and teachers argue therapy dogs will not work in high schools because too many students have allergies to dogs. Although this is true, there is a way to solve the problem and still allow therapy dogs in high schools. Studies have shown that some dogs are hypoallergenic, such as a Poodle, Irish Water Spaniel and a Bichon Frise (Hypoallergenic… 1). Most people are allergic to the dander on the dogs; hypoallergenic dogs have less dander than most dogs (Dogs Good… 1). When schools get therapy dogs, they will have to be hypoallergenic. By having a hypoallergenic dog, students with allergies would be able to enjoy the dog just as much as a student who is not allergic to dogs.
