In therapy this could be done using an open ended question. “Tell me a little about yourselves and what brings you all in today?” After saying that statement I would ask Kay to go first since she is the mother and not involved as much in Renee’s life as Brenda is involved. During the second stage the therapist’s main focus is to clarify the presenting problem.…

Medicated Child Response After watching the vast majority of the documentary The Medicated Child, I am torn on the subject of medicated children. I think that pediatricians need to either have more training on mental health in regards to children or should be mandated to automatically refer potential mental health cases to psychiatrists. The video had stated the main individuals diagnosing these children are pediatricians and as a result, children are either misdiagnosed or heavily medicated. Both outcomes are unacceptable in my opinion.…

Every day was the same routine with same inconsiderate people that never took my feelings into consideration. I felt like no one cared about me other than my parents, but one day that changed due to one person, my pediatrician.…

Model of Family Therapy The Experiential Family Therapy model is a theory that was developed by the practitioners of Carl, Whitaker, Walter Kempler and Virginia Satir. With the Experiential Family Therapy Model, the goal of the therapist is to catalyze the natural drive of the family to reach growth and the full potential of the individual members of the family. Still, the individual practitioners allowed their personality to be instrumental in the success of their unique forms of Experimental Family Therapy, although their focus and goals were similar (Goldberg, 2013). Because of the importance of the individual personality in the success of a model, Whitaker’s Symbolic-Experiential Family Therapy (S-EFT) was selected and will be argued for…
