Therapeutic Riding Ax Plan
1. Life Story of the Rider.
MJ is an 11 year old male with Down syndrome. He is currently in the 6th grade and loves to play electronic games, puzzles, and watch DVD’s. He lives at home with both parents and an older sister. When MJ gets to windridge he goes straight to the lounge and begins playing with the train set they have in there. He also likes to pet the cat when she is in there. MJ’s strengths are mobility, he is able to walk and carry his riding equipment. His weaknesses are communication, he can communicate but he refuses to when he is at windridge.
2. Medical Information.
MJ was born with Down syndrome. He has low muscle tone, but walks through his environment with no problem. He walks across the concrete, the sand, and the hay while he is at windridge. He is the second of two children, his older sister is in college. He has good mobility with walking and he runs in his own style. He does not like loud noises. He does not communicate effectively to express his needs or wants. His parents are looking for improvement with a legible spoken speech. MJ’s therapeutic goals are to ride independently at a walk through an obstacle course with position changes.
