Likewise, NASW (2008) noted that recognizing the core importance of interpersonal relationships can dismantle members’ ambivalence to change, thus promoting change. Therefore, it is significant for social workers to be educated in diverse areas so that they will have a better understanding on how to engage group members in conversations or activities that will enhance positive outcomes. As a result, it will develop a therapeutic relationship with group members such as the “Freedom Riders”. In order to attain the previous goal social workers must look for strengths and similarities among group member for that purpose of the helping process.
