LETTER OF INTENT

I grew up watching my mother care for people as a nurse as she left for work every day she was aware she was making a difference in peoples lives which gave me the passion of pursuing therapeutic recreation. I strongly believe by providing variety of programs, crafting and leisure activities for individuals with mental and physical disabilities will stimulate their minds to allow them to integrate into the community. So, I have found myself an idealistic career by pursuing Therapeutic Recreation Bachelor Degree at Douglas College. My name is Patrina Mowatt-Hengari, born into a family where we value empathy and nurturing each other with a high level of integrity. As a teenager seeing my aunt helping people bringing them back into their lives as a vocational therapist placed a desire to constantly bring the best out of others in the community. I feel the need to help patients with mental and physical challenges integrate into their community is very important and being enrolled in this program, I am closer to my goal of becoming a Certified Recreational therapist. In addition to this, my extra curriculum activities that included Drama and student council gave me the tools to coordinate myself and groups.
Ultimately, my extensive experience working in customer service contributes to my career choice as well as handling customer requests while assessing their predicaments and creating a solution. Moreover, providing customers with service in the comfort of their own home allowed me to assess their concerns and overcome objections. The ability to evaluate humans has made me come to the conclusion, by helping individuals with challenges can make progress in their lives. I plan to instill those values into my
