Theory Y: High-Quality Employee Motivation At Whole Foods

Theory Y shows and places emphasis on assuming people are more positive and more optimistic about their work environment. Individuals are more involved, able to adapt, and present self-awareness of the tasks that are required of them. According to Kreitner and Kinicki (2013), McGregor’s Theory Y workers tend to understand the idea of independence, self motivation, commitment, enthusiasm, and seek to do very well with minimal supervision and or monitoring.

Theory Y, in my opinion, plays a vital role at Whole Foods. Generally, the workers at Whole Foods are motivated and committed to the overall vision and mission of the organization. Management aims to hire exceptional high quality employees that are effectively trained for the job
