My thoughts were since the self-control theory states that individuals suffer from seeking immediate gratification, easy solutions to problems, difficulties with problem solving, and trouble maintaining relationships. These are all quality’s that could cause an individual to acquire strong feelings of solitude, isolation, confusion and erratic dissension making which could potentially lead to individuals committing heinous crimes like the columbine in Newtown. Another prominent key factor in the theory is what causes criminals to acquire low self-control and that is due to parenting.
