For Mrs. Altier to help her students to do well in her class she can use many different learning theories to better them, such as Thorndike’s law of effect. The law is essentially saying that rewarded behavior is more likely to occur again than unrewarded behavior which essentially means that a behavior will occur if it is followed by a satisfying effect and is less likely to occur if followed by an unsatisfying event. Mrs. Altier could apply Thorndike 's law in order for students to achieve higher grades, consistent studying habits, and other exemplary behaviors. For example Mrs. Altier can give food or extra-credit for students who do their homework every night for a week, or acheiving a set standard on tests. This is also associated with …show more content…
Altier can apply to her classroom would be the Pavlovian classical conditioning which would also help her class perform well. Pavlovian classical conditioning is a type of learning that links two or more stimuli and anticipated events. In essence, a neutral stimulus alone will not create response unless paired with an unconditioned stimulus, which on its own produces unconditioned response, the neutral stimulus will create a conditioned response on its own. An unconditioned stimulus is a stimulus that naturally triggers a response and produces an unconditioned response which is a naturally occurring response. A neutral stimulus is a stimulus that does not have any affect on its own but may become a conditioned stimulus, that after association with an unconditioned stimulus, triggers a conditioned response, which is basically a learned response. However, it is important to note that if a conditioned stimulus is not consistently paired with the unconditioned stimulus then the conditioned response will slowly cease to occur. Mrs. Altier could apply the use of Pavlovian classical conditioning to her class in order to strengthen her classes excitement when doing math problems. For example, Mrs. Altier could use candy as an unconditioned stimulus creating an unconditioned response of happiness. Latent learning is when learning takes place without effort; and does not become apparent until there is a motive behind the learning. Through the use of this theory Mrs. Altier could apply it in the classroom by allowing for students who don’t choose to share the information with others to receive better the rewards that they might find enticing. One of the major reasons why many latent learners choose not to share is because they are not enticed enough by a certain reward. If Mrs. Altier would provide a better incentive in her class such as extra-credit it would allow for more latent learners to share their knowledge and make the classroom a better
