Social gatherings are the usual most enhancing sports events and experiences which they regard as more important than those of the actual games. The benefits of social gatherings are that it appeals to be a firmly fixed desire of people to be involved in the crowd. As a result to this, this gathering is important to their fan zones popularity which may make travel to away games and sensational ‘socialization’ of sports fan. In terms of theory of social identity, it states that sports fan is pushed to act in ways that preserve and increase their self esteem. Through this theory, it may help to explain that when sports fan are having a high self esteem, it is as if someone’s recognition as being attractive and competent. When these sports fan are wearing their favourite team colors, attending each and every match and knowing their entire team players name, standings and stats, they will start to feel like they are also an important part of the team. Hence, these help to boost up their self esteem by affiliation and union. When their team wins, the self esteem will be high and that the connection between them and the team victory makes them as if they were also playing the match. Nonetheless, even when the their team gets defeated, this social identity theory remarked that a true fan will still watch the team play just as positively due to the remarks that losing has to do with their self esteem and that they has recognized the team.
