When we first went over this model in class I was confused by what types of services would be categorized into what quadrants. Working on our group project throughout the semester really helped to clarify and solidify this model in my mind. Direct community services would include things such as awareness and education groups on certain mental health topics at locations throughout the community such as college campuses or senior health care facilities. Finally, regular individual therapy sessions would be an example of direct client services. Learning about this model has helped me to develop and change my view of myself as a counselor, because it has made me realize how much more there is to the field than just individual counseling. I need to be well rounded in the future and also be aware of the kinds of preventative care I can be involved in and the many ways I can advocate for my clients as

This goal was developed before the start of the clinical and influenced my decision to complete a practicum on a medicine unit because I wanted to build a strong foundation for my nursing practice. This topic, therefore, influenced my transition from student to beginning graduate nurse by enhancing my ability to solve problems through the use of the nursing process. Research states that “Group workers choose techniques and a leadership style appropriate to the type(s) of group(s) being offered” (Thomas & Pender, 2008, p.113). As a counselor, it would be beneficial for the group to use techniques that I am most familiar and have experience with. If the style of techniques that I am using needs adjusting and I have to try a form of techniques that I have not used before I would seek the assistance of supervisor. Another way I hope to align my personal goals with professional standards is by enhancing my personal development. Research also states that “Group workers remain current and increase knowledge and skill competencies through activities such as continuing education, professional supervision, and participation in personal and professional development activities” (Thomas & Pender, 2008, p.114).…

Like mentioned before, engaging in group discussions and perfecting public speaking are also key themes to apply to my future profession. By progressing effectively towards these, it will also open doors for building relationships which is also something this course emphasized. Being able to assess and enforce policy is another category of health promotion that is important for professionals to understand. Like the models mentioned above, I thought forming approaches targeting policy, built environments, and system changes were very useful. I struggled with mixing these components with programming solutions, but with practice it was easier to distinctly design solutions individually.…

This class was beneficial to my future as a social worker. I was able to learn about different therapies I could potentially use when working with clients. When we were first assigned this paper I was a bit conflicted on what my theory was going to be since I felt that all therapies were important. But as we learned a little bit more in depth about how each of them worked I was able to relate to certain ones. The main therapies I’ll be using as a guide for my personal theory paper are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Family/Systems Therapy.…

The positive effect has been shown that today these players can prevent all different single units from being able to have control to take over any of the other systems. A negative effect is that cost can be difficult to get because of the many different parts that go into payment. But now in this day in time it has expanded into future expectations such as being a payer through public-sector programs like Medicare and Medicaid, they are providers for services to military, veterans, and indigenous populations, and lastly they are supporters of the education and training of many care providers (Barton, 2009).…
