The meaning of service has been literally evolving for centuries. This study is supported by the following theories. Although the term service learning was coined in the 1970’s the test of curriculum embedded service were prompted much earlier by educational scholars. This study supports the following theories:
Jean Piaget’s Constructivism is a theory of knowledge which argues that humans generate knowledge and meaning from their experiences. He suggested that through processes of accommodation and assimilation, individuals construct new knowledge from their experiences. Guided by these philosophies and theories, the researcher attempts to develop a service learning model as basis for a proposed service-learning model. To facilitate the formation of proposed model to be used in this study, the researcher includes the exploration of other Service-Learning models as references. There are a lot of Service-Learning Models been formulated in different institutions and even youth organizations. But the researcher have explored and based her proposed S-L model from the following frameworks: Service Learning 2000 Center. Service-Learning Quadrants, Models for Integrating Service-Learning into the Curriculum, Inver Hills Community College, Florida Golf Coast University, Texas A&M International University, Ateneo De Davao University, Ateneo De Naga University De Paul University, Trinity University of Asia, UNESCO Pillars of Education.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions:
1. What is the level of knowedge of the students in environmental science
2. What is the level of environmetal awareness and practices of the arangay residents?
3. What is the level of performance of the students in the formative evaluation using the S-L model?
4. Is there a significant difference on the level of students’ environmental knowledge before and after the S-L activities?
5. Is there a significant difference on the level of environmental awareness and practices of the barangay residents before and after the S-L activities?

Definition of Terms
Attitude is the manner of thinking, feeling and actions towards environmental issues of both students of environmental science in UCC and the barangay residents.
Community refers to the place and its residence where the service-learning activities of the student will be conducted. It is also included as a data source in this study since the outcome of the activities are visible in the selected

    A major underlying construct of Piaget’s theory is the idea of natural selection and organism adaptation.
