I had to make a right decision and get all my facts straight form a reliable article. ¨Poe was incoherent, unable to move, and wearing someone else´s dirty clothes¨ (mprnews.org ¨Even in death, Edgar Allen Poe Reamins a Mystery¨ Tracy Mumford.) Poe was killed because of cooping and that is the right choice because I have solid evidence and a reliable source to guide me into making that choice I made. It might not have been easy, but using what I read in that article, I was able to make the conclusion that Poe died of a cooping Back in the 1840´s, when men could vote and women can not, the men would take another man up off the street and they drug them. The men would then put them in other people´s old dirty clothes and force them to go vote for the candidates they wanted to win the election, because every man can only vote one time, once they are done with them, the men that forced them to vote again just throw them out on the street while they are still drugged and go and find another man to vote and this keeps going. This is the theory called cooping. In the article I read, it stated that Poe was found outside of a polling place. Then it went on and stated that Poe was …show more content…

I believe that he was killed by alcohol because of all the hardships and horrible events that has happened with his life. To support the fact that he died of alcoholism is because first of all as Kenneth Silverman writes in “Poe’s Final Days” “Poe was found near a tavern, worse for wear, and in great distress, looking flooded with drink, and ill from exposure.” Now Poe being found near a tavern wouldn’t be a coincidence, and him being ill is most likely because of the swift wintery weather happening at the time. In a letter to the Editor by Burton R. Pollin, and Robert E. Benedetto they state that “Evidence of Poe’s chronic binges are strewn through…

Since Edgar Allan Poe has died there has been no evidence or proof of how he died. There are many different theories on how Poe had died; my thought is that he was killed by cooping during the election times. “Poe was discovered on election night outside Gunner’s Hall, a pop-up polling station for the day’s events” (Thompson). Cooping was a process that rigged the elections, people would be kidnapped and drugged on substances and forced to vote for whoever there kidnappers wanted them too. They were dressed in different clothes so they could be incognito and vote multiple times at several different polls.…

In the first story that I read, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Gilman, the author describes the mental state of the main character by making the reader question why the patient has such a great obsession with the yellow wallpaper in her room. Something about the paper fascinates the patient and causes her to believe things are happening to and around her that are not at all. At one point the patient strangely described, “This bed will not move! I tried to push it until I was lame, and then I got so angry I bit off a little piece of one corner - but it hurt my teeth”(446). This shows how the patient was crazy enough to bite a part of her bed, but then state out the obvious that it hurt her teeth, even though that would have gone through…

Some may say that his stories were inspired by tragic life events he had went through. Poe’s mother, his wife, and his foster mother, have all passed away from tuberculosis, which could have led to the dark mood and deaths in many of Poe’s stories and poems, which has also led to many of the similarities in all of his writings. “Annabel Lee,” “The Masque of the Red Death,” and “The Fall the House of Usher” are just some of the works where Poe’s writing style is evident.…
