In my opinion, during the BSN level, I feel clinical theory is incomplete in scope and does not seem to be successful compared to theoretical nursing. “Since nursing was considered a profession, theory has been part of understanding nursing care, goals, and rules.” (Im & Ju Chang, 2012)
In my experience as a new nurse, I have come to realize that nursing theory play a significant role in the majority of my day-to-day encounter with my patient centered care. For example, incentive spirometer has been proven by theorists to help ease the pain from surgery for patients, and not just pain treatments that are clinically known. …show more content…
As nurses like me aspire to the graduate level, and we will have a sound knowledge and approach in nursing theory.
