Theoretical Links Between Critical Thinking And Ethical Decision Making

Critical thinking and ethical considerations entails four fundamental aspects namely; identifying and questioning assumptions, seeking a multiplicity of choices and alternatives on a subject, making connections, and fostering active involvement these aspects incorporated with theoretical links between critical thinking and ethics are the foundation of this discussion. Factually, what may be ethical in one situation may be considered unethical in another context.
Critical thinking is the ability to intellectually and skillfully conceptualize, apply, and analyze information gathered from observation or experience as a guide to belief and action. Critical thinking therefore encompasses the use of interconnected skills to analyze and integrate what people read or perceive (Donna, 2001). Critical thinking skills are divided into six steps. Step one involves demonstration of the basic knowledge learnt on a subject by being able to narrow it down to its main components. The second step requires understanding of the topic for instance, ability to summarize it in different words as well as explain it

In order to achieve the best conclusion, information should be gathered and evaluated from as many different sources possible. The gathering of information helps to broaden the scope of research and further increase the chance of improving on previously proposed ethical theories. Similarly, critical thinking improves self retrospection and personal assessment thereby helping me know my strengths, weaknesses, and preferences and their possible impact on decisions I make in life. Evaluation and synthesis skills can also help me to develop foresight and predict possible outcomes of scenarios. By following these skills, people learn to systematically identify, observe, integrate, and analyze various challenges that come across their lives and providing the best solutions without panic or
