The course NSC 840 Theoretical Foundations for EBP has definitely surpassed my expectations. I have gained a strong knowledge base that I can utilize throughout my practice as an family nurse practitioner (FNP). I have come to realize that this knowledge base is essential to holistic nursing care. Many of the assessment techniques, and interventions that we use daily are based on nursing theory. It is easy to get complacent in our chosen field of study, this course made me stop and think more about the basis of my actions in daily care. There are so many concepts such as caring, and comfort that are utilized regularly in practice without thinking about the theory behind the practice. It is easy to forget "why" we do certain interventions.
