Being in management and being a leader is two different things. For instance, being in a management role is stating that you have some authority of followers. Being a leadership role, dedicates that you inspire and motive your followers to be great and lead by example. According to Bel (2010), being a role model is by demonstrating one’s own involvement and energy. Transformational leadership is a great leadership theory that distinguishes management from leadership. According to Northouse (2015), “transformational leadership is a process that changes and transform people” (161). Transformational Leader is “leader-focused and attempts to explain individual, group, and organizational performance outcomes by identifying and examining specific leader behaviors directly related to them (Hui, et al)”. …show more content…
The theoretical constructs that resonated with me the most was the concept of new leadership and transformational leadership. Both theories are one in the same. The new leadership concept is a continual redesigning theory in order to fit the need of the new generation behaviors. According to Hui, Law, Hackett, Duanxu, & Zhen (2005), transformational leadership has arose as one of the most prevalent approaches to understanding leader effectiveness.
