“My Theology of Worship”
My theology of worship can be found in John 4:24: “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” This is my theology of worship from this text, which can further be broken down into these four questions, which I will go in detail about how they relate to my theology. How worship functions in the relationship between God and humanity, where the sacraments fits into my theology of worship, the role of the church in corporate worship(community), finally; the role of the pastor in teaching, preparing, and leading worship.

Benedict first definition talk about worship being a collaborative engagement over time which God and his people listen to each other, which love being the binding force (Benedict 2007). Benedict goes further to define worship as liturgy, the communal act of God’s people offering themselves to God in prayer and praise using resources for the sake of the world and using tools from the church historically (Benedict 2007). According to Benedict, worship as liturgy is “a portal into the heart, mind, and work of our Lord by the power of the Spirit to the glory of God”. I love this definition as well because apart from the Spirit of God, how can you worship, or can you worship without the Spirit of God? These authors from their faith perspectives supports what I define worship as. It doesn’t began and end in the church, but worship is our lifestyle, who we are, what we do, and lastly; it is community.
Earlier I mention how Adam and Eve fellowship with God, who is a spiritual being, God is highly turned on by our praise and worship. Our Creator believes in the oneness or togetherness with creation. This is the one two principle of worship, which is found in this congregational song we sang in our worship services, “When the praises of God goes up, and the blessings come down”.
