Theodore would drink and get high before and after-school every day. Mrs. Johnson, his teacher knew that something was going on with him because his grades and attendance slowly diminished. Life at home for Theodore was drastically changing from good to bad. He was becoming an unrecognizable person to his family. Theodore’s behavior towards his family was getting out of control. He would continue to miss his curfew and became hostile when he was told to do something. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson tried talking to him but were unsuccessful; subsequently, Theodore just stymied his parents. He began hiding his life from his parents; meanwhile, Mrs. And Mr. Jackson were considering getting Theodore some help for his addiction. His parents got him into a treatment center, which he would have to stay for at least sixty days; however, Theodore was reluctant to go. After his extended stay at the treatment center, Theodore came home a changed person. Theodore became involved in his family’s life again, and by complying with what his parents wanted him to do. Theodore has tried: rehab, jail, and detox and each time he wasn’t successful with his battle against his addiction. His addiction has stood in his way more than one time. Therefore, his addictive lifestyle made his life very difficult. Although Theodore hasn’t given up his fight for his sobriety, and with the help support of his family, he is steps closer to winning the fight for his life. He was later accepted into a program that helped people fight addiction, and at first, Theodore was reluctant to even try. The program was very strenuous such that it was aimed at helping the whole person, and not just the addiction itself. He participated in weekly AA and NA meetings, and counseling, also, had mandatory court appearances that held him accountable for his progress in the program. After a long process about eighteen months, Theodore eventually achieved his sobriety and has been sober for four years now but still knows that his fight for his life will never be
