The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton has many themes and challenges that the characters have to overcome such as Johnny killing Bob, hiding out in the church and only eating bologna for a week, or the quarrels between the socs and the greasers, and the fire and while children were playing at the church. How the fire started was that they presumed that they left a cigarette inside and while children were playing around the church, some of them went inside and got trapped. Johnny killed Bob because he was drowning Ponyboy, which led to them hiding out in the church and then the church setting fire and Johnny dying. All of these conflicts led up to each other and in the end some were resolved and some weren't like that Johnny and Ponyboy saved the children
