Between her mother and her husband telling her she was different, Desiree believed in all her heart that it wasn’t her who was colored. Sadly, she gave in to the words that were being said about her and she was never heard of again. It gives you many emotions throughout the story. It also makes you wonder how things could’ve worked out differently if Desiree was the one with the colored blood instead of Armand. All in all, the story was filled with many topics of irony, symbolism, and themes. As a researcher and reader of this story, I totally recommend checking out this short story and to read it yourself.
