Theme Song Essay Music has always been such a necessity to me. Sometimes when I listen to certain songs it brings so many different emotions to me, other times music will remind me of certain memories or people. Music can be such a powerful thing to some people. You can listen to music when you are sad, happy, excited, angry, etc. However, my go-to song when I feel like I'm going through a hard time and need some motivation or reminder that you have to stay positive through all the negative situations in life is Olivia Lane’s song “Make My Own SunShine”. The song “Make My Own SunShine” portrays a positive aspect on life. Olivia Lane starts off the song explaining how she’s running late, her car is on empty, and she might be lost but she is still in her happy place and will continue to smile throughout the bad situations. Being able to appreciate the good and bad things in life and knowing they all happen for a reason is such an amazing trait for someone to have. In the song Lane says “Hey, hey, I’m …show more content…
Like Olivia Lane says “Had a big ol’ fight with my boyfriend, another one of those “He said, she said” here we go again, I guess we might break up, might stay together, but either way is alright I’ll never need a new umbrella.” That verse reminded me of how all my life I was taught to never depend on someone else for anything or ever have someone say “if it wasn’t for me you wouldn’t have that”. If anyone wants to walk out of my life I will still be happy regardless of the situation, I know greater will come. Whenever it rains you don’t always need to buy a new umbrella, you can always use the same one and still make it through the storm just fine. Life is what you make it out to be, everything starts with you. I won’t ever be upset with minor setbacks because I know something greater is coming and god has a plan for everyone and

Allowing myself to accept this stage of life will make the transition smoother, which is exactly what I will be doing when I retire to increase a healthy lifestyle and a sense of meaning in my life. I have the tendency to shut people out when I am hurt from a tragic accident. Like I mentioned before, when my uncle died, I didn’t say anything to anyone about how I felt for a really long time. I was scared that the pain wouldn’t stop. Losing someone so important can cause anxiety and that is exactly what it felt like.…

My method is listening to an emotional and spiritual song such as “Rise Up” by Andra Day. The vibrancy and courageous technique she incorporates in her lyrics really drive the theme of perseverance. Day’s lyrics, “You're broken down and tired of living life on a merry go round." defines both me and Cinderella. Just the sentence alone, I can already interpret some sorrow, grief, disappointment, tension, and so on.…

Her poem “If I can stop one heart from breaking” speaks easily to all ages that life is made worthwhile if you help others. “If I can ease one life the aching, or cool one pain, [...] I shall not live in vain.” Emily Dickinson’s poems cover a wide range of tones and teach valuable lessons but also instill feelings and beliefs in people. Something in the poem “‘Hope’ is the thing with feathers” really struck something within me. The idea that the Hope Bird is small and delicate, yet is always fighting and singing for you is a really impactful thought and image for me. The selflessness of the tiny bird that will stay by your side through the darkest…

I had nobody to tell my secrets to or talk about all the superfluous details about my day. It was a deep wound and I know I had no one to blame other than myself. I tried to get over it by etching in my brain that it was for the best but I still think about how different my life would be if she was still in it. Joan Didion was in the same position when she said “…I suspect she will reappear when I least want to see her... (492)” I thought that as soon as I fully got over our friendship that she’d pop right back into my life like nothing ever happened. Years passed and she never did.…
