The actual size of this segment is hard to calculate as not everyone agrees on what exactly extreme sports holds as a definition. However it has been reported that 69% of overall international travel departures leave from Europe, North America, and South America, and together these three regions account for over USD 263 billion in adventure travel expenditures. (ATTA, 2013) To add to the customers who travel for extreme sport tend to spend a lot more than normal tourist spending up to USD 3,000 (Global Report on Adventure Tourism, 2014) and this means to say that it attracts high value customers. The main age group for extreme sports men and women is between twenty to thirty-five years of age with a predominance in men. In the last decade however, the trend has grown significantly and will continue to do so.
As extreme sports enthusiast, there is an enormous appetite for sports like bungee jumping, white water rafting, jungle trekking and survival courses. Also safety is key and our theme parks certainly offers that. These are all activities which can be deemed eco-friendly (certainly better for the environment than gas guzzling bikes or jet skis) and still contain the adrenaline kick needed. With extreme sports as a growing touristic segment it certainly makes it attractive for our future

For Mills, this is largely due to the lasting effects of a history of racial discrimination and past legislation – not necessarily a conclusion based on scientific data.…
