During the Elizabethan era, life in England was characterized by violence and feuds where ubiquitous. A feud, as defined in the Oxford English Dictionary, is An actual feud that took place in the fifteenth century was that between two illustrious northern English families, the House of Percy and the House of Neville, who engaged in skirmishes and were to some extent responsible for the Wars of the Roses. Another feud was that between two Scottish clans, Clan Gunn and Clan Keith, which caused the War of the Champions in the fifteenth century and ended after 500 years with a contract of friendship between the two clans.
